Ilya Mironov: inspiration in a quote
Next on our advice-sharing project, Ilya Mironov of Google Research shares two inspirational quotes/tips (q-tips?).
There’s, of course, a difference between a tip and an inspirational quote. I’ll share two statements that fall in both categories.
Although the following is not particularly original or witty, “The more you know, the better off you are”, what made it stick was who I heard it from. This is something that Dan Boneh once said, and if he had a coat of arms, it would be its most fitting motto.
The following quote is attributed to Stefan Banach and recounted by Stanislaw Ulam, “Good mathematicians see analogies between theorems or theories. The very best ones see analogies between analogies.” Even for those of us who don’t aspire to be great mathematicians, trying to see a meta-picture of one’s area can be a productive exercise.

I don’t get this one, can anybody give an explanation?
